Learn West African Rhythm Through Drum
TMOAR begins workshops by teaching about the construction of the drum and its history. Students are taught “drum etiquette,” the proper way to approach and sit at your instrument. Through patient instruction, students become comfortable with hand techniques to produce basic drum notes (tone, slap, and bass). All the learned techniques blend together in a traditional rhythm with parts and cadences. Workshops end with a group “performance” to share with school and/or community.
